Philip Seymour Hoffman
I have two distinct memories of Mr. Hoffman. One that I'll share here was when I first moved to the city and attended a barn reading series at The Labrynth Theatre--for free--which was directed by Mr. Hoffman. He was in attendence and they ended up seating me a seat or two away from him. I was blown away that a little nobody like me could walk into a black box theatre in the village and see one of this generation's great artist's work, live and in person, for free. Seeing him there, responding to his work, talking with colleagues and audience members was certain a special bonus. I was blown away by his generosity and accessibility as an artist, as well as the Lab's generosity--needless to say, it was quite the introduction to city and the rich theatre community here.
As it stands we're all at a lost.
Rest in peace, Mr. Hoffman.
